Blood & Bone

In a world ruled by instinct and hierarchy, where Alphas lead, Betas stabilize, and Omegas ignite, society isn’t governed by politics or policy — it’s ruled by packs. And when packs clash, blood follows. This isn’t just about dominant displays or mating rituals. This is about land, about power, about survival.Out beyond the city limits, in the shadowed stretches of wilderness and crumbling ruins of the old world, turf wars rage. Not the kind fought in courtrooms or back alleys, but in claw and fang. Werewolves roam in their second skins, their human selves threaded with something ancient and wild. Every Alpha has a claim to defend. Every Omega is a prize to protect or control. And the unclaimed lands — the neutral zones — are shrinking fast.Three major packs dominate the region: The Emberfangs, the Luneblood Pack, and The Duskwalkers.
Each pack is powerful on its own, but none can fully claim dominance.
They don’t understand what an alliance could mean. Unity. Shared strength. A force that could challenge the oldest powers in the North or reclaim the forbidden territories lost to the wild.
But pride runs thicker than blood.Instead, they’d rather tear each other to pieces, let their wolves sink teeth into flesh over border disputes, unmated Omegas, or ancient slights long buried in bones. And all the while, a new threat stirs in the unclaimed lands — one that doesn’t care about pack lines or scent markers.Because when the wolves are busy fighting each other, the real predator gets closer.

The Packs

The Emberfangs

“Ashes rise, and so do we.”

Savage, primal, relentless.
The Emberfangs are known for their ferocity in battle and their ruthless Alphas. Their territory lies in the charred forests and scorched hills — land marked by ancient fires and old battles.
They are aggressive, war-hungry, and obsessed with dominance. They believe only the strongest deserve to rule. Weakness is a death sentence. They are known for raiding parties, blood feuds, and Alpha challenges.

Luneblood Pack

“By blood, by moon, by right.”

Cold, calculated, ancient.
The Lunebloods are the oldest and most traditional pack, clinging to the belief that they are the moon’s chosen. They inhabit misty woods and frost-laden highlands, their howls said to weave through the fog like spirits.
They are reserved, disciplined, and tactical. They believe bloodlines and legacy are everything. The Moon chooses the worthy. They are known for precise ambushes, ancient rites, and complex mating laws.

The Duskwalkers

“We walk in shadow, we strike in dusk.”

Nomadic, unpredictable, dangerous.
Unlike the other packs, the Duskwalkers roam between territories, claiming no permanent home. They trade in secrets, forbidden knowledge, and stolen mates, thriving on chaos and deception.
They are opportunistic, cunning, and adaptable. They believe freedom is power. No Alpha rules forever. They are known for guerrilla warfare, scent-masking, and pack-swapping alliances.

Why They Can't Merge

Even though it’s clear to outsiders (and a few brave Betas or disillusioned Omegas) that together they could crush rival packs and claim unchallenged dominance, deep wounds and stubborn pride make unity impossible:

  • Emberfangs see alliances as weakness.

  • Lunebloods refuse to sully their bloodline with outsiders.

  • Duskwalkers trust no one long enough to settle.

Their hatred runs deeper than instinct — it’s written in ancestral grudges, broken treaties, stolen mates, and Alpha blood spilled beneath full moons.

Current Conflict

Tensions are at their breaking point.
A stretch of unclaimed land, rich with old magic and fertile grounds, lies on the border of all three territories. Every pack wants it — not just for survival, but for the power it promises.
Raids grow bloodier. Heats and ruts become more dangerous as feral instincts cloud judgment. Rogue Omegas are snatched as bargaining tools or used as bait in ambushes. The Alphas refuse to back down.
A war is coming.
And when it breaks — it won’t be about land.
It’ll be about who’s left standing.

ABO Dynamics Breakdown

Heats (Omegas)

A biological cycle unique to Omegas where they experience intense physical and emotional need for sex and mating. It usually happens in regular intervals, influenced by stress, proximity to Alphas, or the full moon.

Symptoms:

  • Heightened sensitivity to touch and scent

  • Increased pheromone output (sweet, intoxicating, uniquely theirs)

  • Painful, feverish body temperature

  • Slick (natural lubricant production) increases

  • Craving for a specific Alpha or "safe space"

Duration:

  • 2–5 days, with waves of intensity

Management:

  • Suppressants exist but may have side effects

  • Isolation dens or safe rooms

  • Mating (temporarily satisfies and soothes symptoms)

Ruts (Alphas)

A primal, hormonal surge unique to Alphas, triggered by an Omega’s heat, full moons, or heavy stress. It involves overwhelming desire to claim, breed, and protect.

Symptoms:

  • Aggression and possessiveness

  • Physical strength peaks

  • Excessive scent-marking

  • Pheromones turn sharper, musky, dominant

  • Obsessive focus on chosen Omega

  • Painful arousal, need for physical connection

Duration:

  • 3–6 days, depending on triggers and physical state

Management:

  • Suppression injections (rarely used — pride factor)

  • Mating (satisfies and grounds them)

  • Pack confinement or isolation (high chance turning feral)

Mating Marks

A permanent or semi-permanent bite given at the height of a heat or rut, typically at the juncture of neck and shoulder.

Purpose:

  • Claims the Omega/Alpha as theirs

  • Releases bonding pheromones

  • Strengthens pair-bond connection (emotional and physical)

Effects:

  • Calms Omega's heat and Alpha’s rut

  • Acts like a lock-on scent identifier

  • Can deter or enrage other Alphas

  • Deepens loyalty, can heighten empathy or awareness of the other’s emotions

Pheromones & Scents

Chemical signals released through skin, glands, breath — uniquely identifying and communicating status, emotions, and intent.

Roles:

  • Alphas exude dominance, aggression, or protectiveness

  • Betas project neutrality or mild supportiveness

  • Omegas release calming, alluring scents, especially during heats

Pack Usage:

Packs scent-mark each other through touch, nuzzling, clothes-sharing. Fights can break out if scents linger on the wrong person.

Bonding & Mating Rituals

Could Involve:

  • Knotting: Alphas develop a physical knot during intercourse that locks them to their partner, ensuring insemination and reinforcing the bond

  • Claiming scents: Rolling in, licking, and scenting their mate after fights or hunts

  • Pack howls when mates are claimed

  • Pack rank fights for the right to court an Omega or challenge an Alpha

Denning

Omegas (especially in heat or while pregnant) instinctively seek small, enclosed, safe spaces — dens — often lined with soft, scent-rich materials.

Purpose:

  • Provides emotional and physical safety

  • Reduces stress and pheromone spikes

  • Encourages bonding within pairs or small trusted groups

Alphas are often drawn to guard dens obsessively.

Extra

Betas are more emotionally stable, neutral — can act as mediators, peacekeepers, or stand-ins when Alpha/Omega dynamics go volatile. Some Betas can still experience low-level heats or ruts.

Suppressants are pills or injections to dampen heats/ruts — controversial, sometimes dangerous, and culturally loaded (seen as shameful by some packs, empowering by others).

Ruts/Heats might sync with the full moon.

Feral ruts might cause partial or full transformation.

Packs might physically den together in wolf form.

Pheromones can influence transformations (an Omega in heat could trigger an Alpha’s shift).
